Peridot
Stone of the month August
Even though the Peridot is known for its greenish hue, in ancient Egypt it was named “gem of the sun”. This stone has a lot of strength and vitality and is considered protective against evil spirits.
Ancient Egyptians believed the Peridot kept on glowing in the dark- long after the sun was gone.
Also the priests drank a special beverage called Soma, trusting it will draw them closer to Isis, goddess of nature. It goes without saying that these cups where of course only made of Peridot, supporting the whole ceremony with its light.
But not only Egypt made subtle usage of the powerful Peridot, also the tribes of Israel each have their stone. Under the Hebrew name "pitdah," Peridot was said to represent the tribe of Asher and it attracted love, opportunity and wealth.
However, every single one of us should pay a little attention to the exhilarating magic of Peridot. It is said that if an unmarried woman finds herself in a luminous dream, wearing a necklace made from pearls, Peridot or Chrysolite, unexpectedly within a short period of time, the love of her life will find her.
And together they will…
"Dance as though no one is watching [them]
Love as though [they] have never been hurt before
Sing as though no one can hear [them]
Live as though heaven is on earth."
